Supervisory Training: Transition, Survival and Success

Supervisors occupy positions of critical importance to the overall accomplishment of an organization’s mission. Their proper training and preparation is critical to ensuring that they understand the important and, at times, unique role(s) that they must fulfill. Supervisors are the only individuals within an organization able to direct the work activities of subordinate staff, influence their behavior and attitudes toward the organization, while at the same time serving as the employees’ advocate in presenting their needs and perceptions to management. This dual role is, under the best of circumstances, a difficult and, at times, an unrewarding responsibility.
This is a two day course. Participants must attend both days at the same location. Using lecture, small and large group exercises, and real work life examples, the participants develop a working definition of supervision, including the functions, responsibilities, roles, required knowledges and skills, ethics, and professional growth and development. Participants will also have an opportunity to self-assess their capabilities, using a number of self-assessment instruments during the two-day course.
Workshop registration begins at 8:00 AM. Sessions run 9:00 AM—4:00 PM each day. Registration fee is $80.00 and includes workshop, breaks and lunch.
