About Us
The Long Term Living Training Institute of Pennsylvania, or LTLTI, endeavors to maximize the independence, safety and well-being of older adults and adults with disabilities, their families and communities, by supporting the work of competent, committed and confident professionals. The Training Institute, which was established in January 2008, is a collaborative effort of the Pennsylvania Departments of Aging and Public Welfare.
LTLTI works to ensure that the long term living network is supported by, and retains, qualified trained staff. This is accomplished by providing educational opportunities including traditional classroom, conferences, webinars, and on-line training thereby enriching the expertise of those who support and/or provide services to older and disabled Pennsylvanians to maximize their level of independence and community living options.

The Mission of The Long Term Living Institute is to train and provide technical support to those working in Long Term Living system to support adults with disabilities and older adults and maximize their level of independence.
The Pennsylvania Long Term Training Institute is a collaborative effort of the the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. It was established to ensure that there are qualified, trained staff along the long term living continuum. The Training Program is centrally managed and administered by the Pennsylvania Association of the Area Agencies on Aging.
- Fill training gaps and avoid duplication of training efforts
- Coordinate long term living training activities
- Develop training programs which foster standardization of principles and practices
- Develop programs which establish core competencies
- Provide learning opportunities that support the Commonwealth's rebalancing initiatives
- Minimize costs associated with training for agencies and providers of long term living
- Respect and promote participants right to dignity and self-determination
- Embrace diversity addressing cultural, spiritual, and ethnic values and beliefs
- 18 members provide oversight and consultation on matters affecting curriculum development, content, program improvement, and evaluation
- Promote best practice standards that encompass social, organizational, and legal realities
- Act as a conduit, providing "real time" feedback between partner agencies, providers, consumers, and the various levels within the State
